This past weekend marked the ten year anniversary of the Chicago Zine Fest, an event that I helped to create in 2009. I was honored to be invited as a guest to the event and to be a part of the Friday night Exhibitor Reading, an event which I have hosted numerous times and introduced some of my best friends and literary heroes in the past. It was so special to get to read at it. I decided to make something new for the event and finished my new book Leave the Ground just in time for Friday night. For the reading I made a video of me turning the pages of the book and reading along with it. I chose to do this because the book I created has several pop up pieces, and I wanted everyone to get to see how they moved. I'm really proud of the book and happy to have it exist. I sold out of all the copies I hand folded, glued and bound for the fest so I will be putting more together soon and they will be available from Radiator Comics. Thanks to everyone who came to the reading, Quimby's Bookstore for hosting it, everyone who stopped by my table and opened the book, to all the organizers for keeping the event happening and all my friends and family who have pushed me to keep creating things. This book means a lot to me and I'm just so happy it exists!
